PWA talents abound

Despite their differences, children with autism will sometimes defy logic and topple neurotypicals, as seen in the individuals, who exude with artistic talents and academic excellence.

Art and Painting Contest

This year’s Art and Painting contest was held at Social Hall of DENR. The participants were divided into two categories, the self-contained class and the mainstream category.

For the self contained category, the winners are: Miel Red Perocho of The Child World- A Growing Center School as 3rd Prize winner, 2nd prize winner is Selcon Sobremonte of Eulogio Rodriguez Integrated School, Mandaluyong City and for the 1st Prize winner is Jerome Neil Bravante of Hen. Pio del Pilar Elementary School, Makati City.

For the mainstream category, the winners are: 3rd Prize is Jeffrey Co of Take the Nations for Jesus Christ Academy, 2nd Prize is Allan Brylle P. Gonzales of P. Villanueva Elementary School, Pasay and our 1st prize winner is Kim Lawrenz Esperanza of P. Gomez Elementary School, Manila.

Judges of the said contest were Mr. Ruben Arcilla, Ms. Yna Nakpil-Roxas and Teacher Baldwin Kho.

The opening of the painting exhibit of Truly Artistic and Proudly Autistic followed after. Private collections of PWA artists Kenrick Cheng and Andrei Macapagal were exhibited at SM The Block, as well as that of Vico Cham, another aspiring artist, whose artworks were displayed at SM Markina, in cooperation with Shine Intervention Center. Quiz A

Have you ever heard of Quiz A? A counterpart of Quiz Bee, Quiz A is ASP’s version of meeting of brilliant minds with autism. On January 21, contestants come from participating Public Schools that mainstream students with autism.

Quiz A had two categories, mainstream of the Elementary and High School level. Winner of the Elementary category are: 4th Jose Phrix Arabit of Commonwealth Elementary School- SPED Center, 3rd Rommel Lopez of P. Gomez and Charles Joshua Castro of Sta Ana Elementary School, 2nd Joseph Garcia Destura of Isaac Lopez Integrated School in Mandaluyong City and 1st Prize winner is Mark Allen Robles of Sta Ana Elementary School High School Category winners are: 4th Wilbert Ong, 3rd Brian Julian Borleo, 2nd Martin dela Cruz of Take the Nations for Jesus Christian Academy and 1st prize winner Jeffrey Ryan Co of Take the Nations for Jesus Christian Academy.
