By: Jan Pena, Governor, ASP Cavite Chapters
Trece Martirez is a third-class city in the province of Cavite. The city serves as the seat of government of the Cavite, where many of the provincial government offices are located. Below is the story of a small town mayor with a BIG heart for autism.

The past two years, we saw him turn into an autism advocate. He loudly spoke to parents and professionals on behalf of the children during Behavior Modification Seminar with 200 participants.
He also supported the Early Detection and Early Intervention Program for autism (EDEIP) Seminar for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) participated by 100 participants.
Understanding that rural areas barely receive funding for social services to persons with autism and their families, he did a very bold move during last year’s mini-olympics awarding ceremony at SM Bacoor. Click here to read this year’s activity.
He addressed to the CaviteƱos who were watching the event from top to ground level of the mall by prompting the people to respond by throwing money (bills of course!) down to the Events Center. Within 10mins the Cavite Chapters were able to raise close to ten thousand pesos!
He did the same thing again during Flag Raising ceremony at Trece Martirez Municipality when the ASP Trece Martirez team was honored for winning the 2nd Champion in the Mini Olympics. Same spiel raised another twelve thousand pesos was raised!
Mayor Jun Sagun travelled all the way from Cavite to join families during the Angels Walk 2009 and 2010. The mayor continues to give generously for autism.
